ASU committed DL excited about Malzahn

Arkansas State currently had 17 commitments before Hugh Freeze left to take the Head Coaching job at Ole Miss. That number has only changed by one and now with the hire of Arkansas native Gus Malzahn expect that number to go back up. AStateNation.com spoke with Memphis Mitchell athlete Greg Buckhanon to get his thoughts on Malzahn.

One current Red Wolf commitment confirmed with AStateNation.com Thursday night that he is excited about the news of who is new head coach is. Memphis defensive lineman Greg Buckhanon said this about the new Red Wolf Coach.

"I'm very excited about Gus Malzahn being my new head coach," Buckhanon said. "I know he won a National Championship at Auburn. I know he won two state championships in high school. I like the fact that he is a winner."

Buckhanon admitted that he was a little surprised by the hire.

"When I first heard it, I couldn't believe it," Buckhanon said. "They couldn't have hired anyone better."

How does Buckhanon feel about his commitment to Arkansas State?

"I'm still very committed to Arkansas State."

Buckhanon is a two star defensive tackle from Memphis Mitchell High School. He is listed at 6-0, 260-pounds.
