Arkansas State University Football players are enjoying their first bowl experience since 2005 and it shows how much they are enjoying the event and their fans.
There are more smiles surrounding this football team, players interacting with one another in the player's hospitality room, to visiting with fans and family.
"This is truly a fun experience," Tom Castilaw told AStateNation.com Friday. "None of our guys have ever been to a bowl game. It's neat to see their faces, the look in their eyes. We have worked hard and this is a great way to end a great season."
The Renaissance Hotel, the Red Wolf Team Headquarters is the center of all activities for Arkansas State.
Athletic Department members Brad Bobo and Gleen Hart the Marketing Director for Arkansas State University arrived on Tuesday to help make the Hotel surroundings feel like home for the team and fan base.
"We wanted this to be home for all Red Wolf fans and family," Bobo said earlier in the week. "The Hotel staff has been tremendous, this truly feels like home. The players are really enjoying their bowl experience."
AStateNation.com arrived early Wednesday morning and has watched the transformation of excitement over the last few days. One member of the football team agreed.
"To see how many people wearing Arkansas State stuff is simply amazing," Castilaw said. "We have taken over downtown Mobile."
Friday night a big contingent of Red Wolves faithful began transcending South to Mobile.
"Wow, this crowd is unbelievable," senior running back Derek Lawson said Friday. "I can't wait to see how much Red is in this hotel Saturday and Sunday."
Arkansas State will play Northern Illinois on Sunday night, bringing to an end an incredible and fun run for this 2011 season.
"It's going to be sad to see this season end," Lawson said. "I can't wait to play the game, but I don't want this bowl experience to end. This is a great way for our team to cap off such a great season. It's neat to see all the guys thoroughly enjoying this bowl experience."
