ASU finds itself in a perfect position to be relevant in this conversation. The school has a high profile head football coach, they are coming off a 10 win season and a coach that wants to take the program to the next level.
What is the Next Level for Arkansas State?
Does it mean joining Conference USA. Will that conference survive? There are a lot of key questions to be answered over the next few months.
Would Arkansas State be a good fit for Conference USA if it remains intact?
Logistically speaking it would seem to be a perfect replacement for Memphis, it's in the area, it has a must stronger football team than the Tigers have and it has several higher profile experienced coaches.
Some might ask if the Red Wolves are ready for such a move, while others might ask why not?
One of the key questions is will Conference USA try to survive or will it dismantle. If it does, should the Sun Belt look to expand, taking some of the displace teams to strengthen the Sun Belt.
Here is another option if CUSA goes away.
What if you take the top schools from the Sun Belt and the top remaining schools from CUSA and make a new conference.
Come up with a new name.
Let's face it the Sun Belt name doesn't have tremendous respect nationally, not saying it isn't getting better everyday.
A new name might be better than just continuing the CUSA, they have its fair share of issues and problems also over the years.
What teams should be added.
