One of the Natural State's top athletes has a leader, but remains open due to a couple of reasons.
Fayetteville High School Brooks Ellis linebacker admits that the recent coaching change upon the Hill has him waiting before making a final decision.
Ellis appears to be leaning towards his hometown team, but says he is open for now to other schools.
"Arkansas right now is my favorite," Ellis told AStateNation.com. "But I'm open to anyone right now, especially due to the coaching change here. Anything can happen with me at this point, I'm waiting to see who they hire on a permanent basis before making a final decision."
Ellis is holding 11 offers currently, with one of those being the other D1 school in his home state Arkansas State University.
"I really like what Gus Malzahn is doing there," Ellis said. "It's good to see that their program is building into a top program. I'm excited about that offer, having a chance to play for Malzahn."
Ellis is also impressed with Malzahn and his coaching staff on how they are recruiting his home state.
"For them to hit all 215 high schools in the state of Arkansas was crazy," Ellis said. "It shows their commitment to building their program with Arkansas athletes, I think it's great."
Brooks got a chance to see the ASU campus last fall but plans on making another trip in the near future.
"A friend of mine and I plan on taking an unofficial visit there soon," Ellis said. "To get to know their coaching staff better. I definitely have interest in Arkansas State, I want to see what they are all about."
