Several of Arkansas top high school prospects visited Arkansas State's Big Wolf Weekend last Saturday.
Gus Malzahn promised to recruit the "Natural" State like no other, apparently he mean't it.
From the AState Ambush to the Head of State Tour and now to the Big Wolf Weekend, Malzahn and his staff are definitely doing things never done before at Arkansas State.
One Arkansas athlete that made it to Jonesboro this past weekend was North Little Rock defensive back Gary Vines.
AStateNation caught up with Vines to get his thoughts on the different type Junior Day.
"It was a lot of fun," Vines said. "I really liked the way the coaching staff connected with us."
According to Vines, Malzahn and his coaching staff wasn't shy letting the recruits know that they are a little different at ASU.
"They told us it was about connecting with their players and about academics first, football would come," Vines said. "They are loving coaches that want you to not just succeed at football, but life as well."
Vines was also impressed with the ASU Campus.
"The campus is good, it's big, I wouldn't have expected that," Vines said. "Jonesboro is big also."
Vines is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back. So far he has no offers.
