Several top prospects across the country holds offers from the Red Wolves to play signal caller, including Alabama standout athlete Jason Smith.

AStateNation.com recently caught up with a busy Smith to get his thoughts on Malzahn and Arkansas State.

Smith will be taking visits to several SEC schools in the next few weeks, he also plans on taking a trip to Jonesboro.

"I like the offer from Coach Malzahn to play quarterback at Arkansas State," Smith said. "Coach Malzahn is a great QB coach, he knows how to utilize athletic quarterbacks in his offensive system. It's a great offense for an athletic quarterback like myself."

Smith, a 6-foot-1, 175 pound athlete is rated as a Four Star prospect by Scout.com and is ranked as the No. 27th wide receiver in the nation. He currently has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Troy, UAB, South Alabama and Arkansas State.

Smith makes no bones about Malzahn's intentions for the talented athlete from McGill-Toolen HS in Mobile.

"They want me to play quarterback at Arkansas State," Smith said. "Their coaching staff wants me to come up this summer for a visit, I plan on taking a visit to their campus."

When Will Smith make a decision?

"I'm not sure," Smith said. "It could be at the beginning of my senior year or at the end of my senior year, I haven't decided."
