Today is a special day for this writer, a year ago today I moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas to become the publisher of AStateNation.com.
A lot of people didn't think that Arkansas State had a big enough fan base to support a full time website covering Arkansas State Athletics, they were wrong.
In the past year we have become the fastest growing website in the Fox Sports Network, one of the largest mid-major sites and rivals some big school sites.
I would like to personally thank each of you that has supported AStateNation by becoming a premium member.
This past year in Arkansas State's sports has been a good one, I'm expecting this upcoming year to even be better with Gus Malzahn mania.
I will be the first to admit that I have a lot of room for improvement in overall sports coverage of all Arkansas State Red Wolf programs. It's my goal to answer some of those issues this fall.
Austin Emerson has agreed to become our basketball beat writer this fall and will cover all home games for AStateNation. He will also do some feature stories, myself and several interns will add to the coverage. Austin has covered ASU athletics for various media outlets, we are very fortunate to have him working for AStateNation.
Nick Statler has agreed to become our video expert on our site, he will be doing highlight videos of practices, video highlights of games and feature video stories of ASU athletes. Nick spent a long period of time working for former ASU Video Coordinator Chris Buttgens and comes highly recommended.
I'm in the process and search for several interns to help out this fall.
No one has broken more commitments and covered Arkansas State recruiting like AStateNation. That coverage will continue.
We are in the process of brain storming to improve our game day coverage.
I personally made every game last year with the exceptions of Virginia Tech and Florida Atlantic. It's my goal to attend every game this fall with the exception being the Oregon game. We have looked at every possible way to make that game, but with some personal health issues etc, we have made the decision to stay in Jonesboro and host an official AStateNation Arkansas State vs Oregon Game watch party, I'm in the process of securing a location for this event.
AStateNation along with AStateNation Sports Radio will bring exclusive coverage of the Sun Belt Media Day later this month. I truly appreciate all of our sponsors for this event, without you we wouldn't be able to make the trip.
I'm very proud that AStateNation.com became partners with 103.9 The Game last fall giving Arkansas State Red Wolf Fans their only two hour dedicated Sports Show just for ASU.
We will continue to strive to improve our product, including bringing daily podcast of each radio show. This will allow all of our members the chance to go back and listen to each show.
AStateNation Sports Radio has had some incredible guest including Gus and Kristi Malzahn being live in studio this past Friday. Governor Mike Beebe, ASU System President Chuck Welch, Larry Lacewell and many other ASU greats have been guest on AStateNation Sports Radio.
We will continue to strive to make it the best ASU Sports Radio show in the market.
I wanted to find a way for AStateNation.com to bring more to the table for our entire fan base. I think we have found the way with the AStateNation Gus Bus. We will take a Chartered Bus to all the away games with the exception of Oregon and Miami. This is something we aren't trying to make money off of, just a way to do something for our fan base.
Great things are in store for every member of AStateNation.com this fall.
We will launch a new AStateNation.com website, it will no longer be Scout.com but will be called Fox Sports Next. A new look, a lot of new technology items including a new message board forum and the fact we will finally be mobile friendly.
I have had a chance to look at the new platform, it will be the very best in the business. I can't wait for the new facelift.
I recently decided to personally add a new feature to the site for our premium members, giving you free text messages for ASU Breaking News. This is something I'm personally doing. Thanks for all of you that have signed up so far, over 70 members are using this new feature.
It's my personal goal to shock the world just like Gus Malzahn plans on doing this fall. It's my goal to have 300 new premium members by the end of the football season and our ASU Bowl Game. No one in our network believes this goal is possible, this is where you come in as current members.
There are two ways you can help me!
First if you are a monthly member please consider upgrading to an Annual membership.
We have the best price in the market at $4.95 a month (you can't get your local newspaper for that price online or delivered), but if you buy an annual membership with our Anniversary Promotion (will end at the end of July) you will receive 15 months for the price of 12. That's $2.99 a month. Anytime you are building a home, you start with a solid foundation. More annual members that we have on the site, will allow myself to invest more into the site.
The second way you can help is very easy. Please tell every Arkansas State Fan that you know about AStateNation.com. Tell them if they aren't a member they are missing out.
Again thanks for making this past year a great one for AStateNation.com, better things are ahead, that's a promise I'm glad to make. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your Arkansas State University Family. I have signed another year contract and very proud I'm staying in Jonesboro covering one of the best up and coming athletic programs in the Nation.
Sign up today for AStateNation by clicking on this link! Remember the more annual members we have, the more things we can add to AStateNation. Yours Truly James Bryant Publisher of AStateNation.com Co-Host of AStateNation Sports Radio
