One Arkansas High School athlete could be making a decision in the next few weeks.
Springdale Har-Ber HS tight end Nick Byrne confirmed with AStateNation.com Monday that he indeed may be making a decision in regards to his recruitment before fall football season begins.
Byrne, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound athlete, currently holds offers from Arkansas State and Louisiana Monroe.
According to Byrne, who has taken two different visits to Jonesboro, Arkansas, the Red Wolves are definitely one of the schools at the top of his list.
"I love everything about Arkansas State," Byrne said. "It's a very homey campus, you get a great vibe from their coaches, they are a very Christian and high character coaching staff."? Byrne likes how close everything is in proximity to the football facilities on the ASU Campus and can see himself spending the next few years there.
"I never really considered Arkansas State until Gus Malzahn arrived there," Byrne admits. "I went down to check things out, and fell in love with the campus, and the coaching staff."
Byrne remembers Malzahn when the veteran coach recruited Nick's older brother.
"He is a great guy and made a great impression on my family," Byrne said. "We have known him for a long time. He is a great family man, he is going to take the ASU program to new heights."
According to Byrne, he is being recruited to play tight end and H-Back for ASU.
Another person that Byrne has gotten to know quite well, is Arkansas State's offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
"I have built a great relationship with him," Byrne said. "We have become really close. I can talk to him about anything."
Does Byrne have a time table for a decision?
"I definitely want to have it done before my senior season starts," Byrne said. "It may happen in the next couple of weeks or so."
