It's apparent that Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff are using the connections they built while at Auburn to their advantage at Arkansas State.

One Alabama prospect has an offer from the Red Wolves and plans on making a trip soon to Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Daphne running back and linebacker Jonathan Walton confirmed with AStateNation.com that he indeed has interest in Malzahn's Football Program.

"It's pretty neat hearing from the schools that have offered me so far," Walton said. "To get an offer from Gus Malzahn was really cool."

Walton, a 6-foot-0, 228-pound athlete, currently has offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Penn State, UAB, South Alabama and Troy.

Walton hopes to camp at ASU next week if things work out.

"Right now I'm not sure," Walton said. "That's the plan, I just have to wait and see how things work out."

Walton has had the opportunity to speak with Coach Malzahn once and is currently building a solid relationship with Arkansas State's Running Backs Coach and Special Team Coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz.

"Coach Malzahn really seems like a great guy," Walton said. "I love the style of offense he runs at Arkansas State. I was impressed with what he accomplished while he was the OC at Auburn."

Drinkwitz appears to have made a solid impression as well.

"He is a great coach and a great guy," Walton said. "He wants me to be an all purpose back at ASU. I like Coach Drinkwitz a lot."
