Mack Excited About Offer

Before he went to football camp at Arkansas State last weekend, Lonoke wide receiver Blake Mack felt a scholarship offer was on its way. "Louisiana-Monroe has offered me, and with them being in the same conference, I kinda felt like ASU would offer me too,'' he said.

A 6-foot-4, 195-pound receiver, Mack still plans on making visits to Louisiana Tech (Sunday) and Arkansas (Monday) in the next few days. He also had an offer from Arkansas Tech and said he has heard some from Memphis.

He got the call from ASU defensive coordinator John Thompson, who recruits Arkansas, around noon on Wednesday.

"I was pretty excited,'' he said. "Coach Thompson told me this was a big deal because they are not going to sign a lot of receivers in this class."

A three-sport (also track and basketball) standout at Lonoke, Mack grabbed 34 passes for 756 yards and 8 touchdowns. As a sophomore he caught 38 passes for 544 yards and 6 touchdowns. He said he plans to attend the ASU camp that will be at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock next Thursday.

As far as making a decision, "I could see it happening before the season if I have all my offers,' he said. "I could make the decision then."
