Bell Commits to Red Wolves

The Warren Lumberjacks football team is noted for producing outstanding skill players. Over the past few seasons they have had quarterbacks, receivers and running backs sign with Arkansas State, Tennessee and Arkansas, among others.

Now there is a big lineman about to join the list.

Jhamahl bell, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman from the Bradley County school, made a oral commitment to the Red Wolves on Friday night. He made the announcement via his Twitter account @thepanda_bell: "I Am Officially a Arkansas State Red Wolf...."

"I was talking to my Dad and decided that is where I wanted to go to school,'' he said. "So I decided to go ahead and commit."

A member of the school Quiz Bowl team, Bell sports a better than 3.0 grade point average and wants to earn a degree in the computer field.

"I have always like computers,'' he said.

He was moved up to the high school team while a freshmen near the mid-point of the season.

"At first they put me on defense and did not to go too well,'' he said. "The next week they moved me to offense and I have started ever since.''

A hard-worker in the weight room, he reported a bench press of 300 pounds and a 390 pound squat.

Bell said he has yet to visit the Jonesboro campus will soon and has no plans to attend any individual camps. He said the Lumberjacks will participate in several team camps, including one at Louisiana Tech.

He is the Red Wolves' first commitment.
