Scottsdale, Arizona Catcher Signs With ASU

Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame catcher Ryan Scott, a thirtieth round draft pick by the LA Dodgers, has signed a letter of intent with Arkansas State.

He made the announcement via his Twitter account (@IAmRyanScott) saying he was "Just signed my National Letter of Intent to go play baseball at Arkansas State University!! So excited…"

He also said he is still considering the Dodgers. "Just one more big decision to make. Do I want to be a Red wolf or do I want to be a Dodger? Big decision up ahead."

Scott is the son of Tulsa Drillers pitching coach Darryl Scott. His brother Casey played at Arizona Western JC and drafted in the 47th round by the Rockies in 2011.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder bats right-handed and led Notre Dame to its first state title.

He was offered early by San Diego State and UNLV but held off signing. ASU entered the picture after the draft.

Playing in the top league in Arizona, he was a .300 hitter and is considered a plus defender. The Red Wolves lost catcher Ryan Roberts from last year team. Junior Stuart Levy returns.
