Painter Holds Two Sun Belt Offers

A lot is starting to happen for Loganville (Ga.) Grayson offensive lineman Owen Painter.

The first-year starter for the Rams has emerged as one of the top offensive linemen in Georgia and has already picked up two offers, including one from Arkansas State last week. Appalachian State offered two weeks ago.

"A few weeks ago my coach sent out a lot of film to a lot of schools and we started hear back from some schools," said Painter, among those was Arkansas State. "We are now starting to hear from a lot of schools."

It is what Painter (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) was hoping for since no offers came during the summer. He has gained 40 pounds in the past year.

"I did not play much last year because I was hurt a lot," he said. "So this is my first year to start."

"I was really, really happy. There has been a lot of hard working getting to that point. Getting the offer really means a lot to me." A-State is somewhat new to Painter.

"I know a little bit about them,'' he said. "I know we had a center from here two years ago that was recruited by Arkansas State."

He said Duke and Western Kentucky had also expressed interest of late but no offers yet.

"I am someone who comes off of the ball hard,'' he said. "I will play with a lot of attitude. I like to be real physical."
