AState Selects Anderson

We have our man. Finally. A coaching search that lasted a little more than a week for the Astatenation ended this morning when the tweets about Blake Anderson becoming the new leader of the Red Wolves came from official sources.

Anderson has been the offensive coordinator at North Carolina the past two seasons, arriving there from Southern Miss when …… took over as the Tar Heels' coach. A disciple of the HUNH (hurry up no huddle) style, the Tar Heels averaged 32 points a game this past season and 40.6 per game in 2012.

So it seems we have the offense philosophy covered that has brought so much success to the Red Wolves the past four seasons, including three straight Sun Belt Conference titles.

A look at the Anderson resume should also bode well for the Red Wolves.

He has been at two Sun Belt schools – UL-Lafayette and Middle Tennessee (yes we know MT is now in CUSA) – so he knows the talent level needed to win in the league.

He is a Texas native and played at Baylor and Sam Houston. He also coached in Texas, in junior college and in the deep south that has been so important to A-State recruiting in recent years. He is known in south Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Watch Anderson break down a UNC touchdown.
