Red Wolves Offer Eaton

Pascagoula (Miss.) wide receiver Matthew Eaton has seen a lot of Arkansas State. He attended camp in the summer along with teammate Caleb Caston and on Sunday night he was in attendance at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile for the Red Wolves' game with Ball State in the GoDaddy Bowl.

"I loved it,'' he said. "They have great fans and a great program. They are really on the rise."

Eaton picked up a scholarship offer from the Red Wolves this week. He has also been on an official visit to Appalachian State and plays on visiting Louisiana-Monroe on Jan. 17.

"Those two along with Arkansas State are in my top three,'' he said.

At 6-foot-5, 197 pounds, Eaton was a big target for Pascagoula, which reach the state playoffs but was eliminated in the first round. He caught 44 passes for more than 700 yards and eight touchdowns.

"I've always played receiver and that is what Arkansas State has told me they want me to play," he said.

He is planning to visit Jonesboro on Jan. 24-25.

"I was recruited by the previous staff but had not heard from them in a while,'' he said. "Then this last week they called me an offered me a scholarship.

"I will probably wait until all my visits are made so I can look at everything and make my decision," he said. "I am leaving it up to God and when the right moment comes I will move forward."

Last summer he and Caston, who committed to the Red Wolves back in the summer, attended camp during the same weekend. He also will make an official visit with him this month.

"We work our together every day,' he said. "We've been friends a long time."
