Daniel Keith Gives Verbal To AState

Florence (Ala.) offensive tackle Daniel Keith joined teammate D.J. Armstead on January 17th as an Arkansas State Red Wolves commitment.

Keith is the 19th commitment for the Red Wolves, who need just 6 players to fill out there 25-signee limit for the 2014 class. National signing date is Feb. 5.

"Oh, he had all kind of offers,'' said Florence coach Jamey Dubose. "He had a great Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game and a lot of schools started to come in late on him.

"I know he had the visit to Wake Forest but that did not go to well and it was kinda far away. He comes from a very large close knit family. Miami and Georgia Tech have been coming in of late.

"He was about to commit to Arkansas State before the coaching change. And even after that he still talked about home much he really liked the school. He had a great visit over there and really liked everything. I think the family liked it because it is not that far away (less than 4 hours) and Mom could get there easily."

Keith was a standout for the Falcons this season and one of a handful of Division 1 prospects on the team.

"I think he is a great player who has a chance to come in and make an impact as a freshmen in the Sun Belt,'' said Debose. "No doubt he is among the top five linemen in the state of Alabama. Arkansas State is getting a steal."

Dubose said Keith carries a 3.7 grade point average and has made in the high 20s on his ACT.

He committed after being visited by head coach Blake Anderson and co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Glen Elarbee.
