New Video Board Discussed With Fans

A group of about 80 greeted AState Athletic Director Terry Mohajir and guest Carlos McCants in Stuttgart Thursday night at the first meeting of the Prairie County Pack Club.

Terry Mohajir used the meeting to deliver details of Arkansas State's planned video board upgrade.

The board to be installed will 34 feet tall and 52 feet wide replacing the 17 by 23 feet board currently at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Based on available information the board would be the largest in the Sun Belt surpassing ULM's board that is 23 by 49.

Mohajir said the vendor was on campus Thursday assessing Arkansas State's needs and determining how to best install the board.

At the meeting Mohajir also discussed plans for a convention center and hotel on the AState campus.

The city of Jonesboro has undertaken several efforts to build such a facility in the past that have not come to fruition. The proximity of the Convocation Center and Fowler Center would give a hotel and convention center complex greater flexibility in the types of events that could be attracted.

The meeting in Stuttgart is part of the Red Wolf Foundation's efforts to create local chapters throughout the state.
