Mohajir Discusses the Football Schedule

Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir said he is pleased with the Red Wolves' 2014 football schedule released today.

The Red Wolves open the season on Aug. 30 at home with Montana State and follow that up with road games at Tennessee and Miami.

"I got the one thing I really wanted and that was an off week before the Utah State game," said Mohajir.

"I like that we have all Saturday home games,'' he said. "That will be a big boost for our home attendance. And I pretty much figured that the Lafayette game would be on a Tuesday night."

The game will be shown on Oct. 21 on ESPN2 and will be a national broadcast for the third straight year. The teams shared the Sun Belt Conference title last season and the marquee programs in the conference."

After Utah State the Red Wolves will open Sun Belt Conference play on Oct. 4 at home against Louisiana-Monroe. That is followed by three straight league road games at Georgia State (Oct. 11), at ULL and at Idaho on Nov. 1.

The Red Wolves close with South Alabama on Nov. 8, Appalachian State on Nov. 15, at Texas State on Nov. 22 and New Mexico State on Nov. 29.

Mohajir said he expects one of the late-season road games to be moved to a Thursday for broadcast on ESPNU.
