Pro Day Overview

More than a dozen former Arkansas State Red Wolves worked out for seven National Football League scouts at the Jonesboro High School indoor football complex Friday.

Among the group that worked was former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Bryan Hall, who is looking to re-enter the game after sitting out last season and defensive tackle Ryan Carrethers, considered by many to the best Red Wolves' best chance at having a player selected in eight straight NFL Drafts.

The 2014 National Football League Draft set to begin May 8 and run for three days.

NFL?teams participating were the San Diego Chargers, St.?Louis Rams, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders.

Carrethers participated in the NFL?Scouting Combine Feb. 22-25. He only participated in the 40-yard dash and the bench press.

"I wanted to improve my showing in the combine and I believe I did," he said.

Hall was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2011.

"I am just trying to get back out there and get a chance to go to camp with someone,'' he said.

After being a part of the Super Bowl champs in 2012, Hall did not make the team in 2012. He was in team's final cut. He also had a tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Other Red Wolves who participated were quarterback Adam Kennedy, offensive lineman Steven Haunga, wide receiver Allen Muse, running back David Oku, offensive linemen Aaron Williams and Cliff Mitchell, deep snapper Cade Oliver, wide receivers Julian Jones, R.J. Fleming and Kelsey Collins and defensive linemen John Gandy and Eddie Porter.

The athletes were tested in the bench press (225 pounds), vertical jump, standing long jump, shuttle drills, speed times and passing and receiving. The streak also tops 29 schools from automatic qualifying conferences.

AState's active streak of having a player drafted in seven straight drafts ranks third among schools in the "Group of Five" conferences, trailing just Fresno State and Central Florida. Arkansas State players taken in the draft were fullback Oren O'Neal, safety Tyrell Johnson, tight end David Johnson, defensive end Alex Carrington, offensive lineman Derek Newton, linebacker DeMario Davis and defensive back Don Jones.
