Baseball Picks Up Outfielder

Arkansas State added what the Red Wolves hope is one of the missing piece when Crowder (Mo.) Community College outfield Ty White signed with the school today.

From Gladstone, Mo., White picked the Red Wolves over a handful of schools.

"UCA (Central Arkansas), ORU (Oral Roberts), SAU (Southern Arkansas), Nicholls State, UNO (New Orleans) and a lot other schools showed interest but did not follow through," he said. "ASU is a clear choice.

"I loved talking with coach (Tommy) Raffo and Coach (Anthony) Everman about what opportunities are there and where this program could be. It made it an easy decision."

This past season at Crowder, the left-handed hitting White hit .342 with 16 doubles, 15 triples and 5 home runs. He drove in 56 runs and was 12 of 16 on stolen base attempts. For the season, he had a .397 on-base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage.

"I'm going to have an opportunity to compete for a job, play every day and be part of something moving up very quickly," he said.

White becomes the fourth player from the Crowder program to join the A-State program in the past two seasons.

First baseman Matt Burgess, outfielder Lucas Fedderson and pitcher Cody Jackson, who redshirted this year, were his teammates at the Missouri school.

"UCA, ORU, SAU, UCM, Nicholls St, UNO, and a lot of other schools showed interest with no follow through. ASU is a clear choice.Lucas and I have a good connection. I will do everything in my power to hlp this program reach it's highest potential. I look forward to it!Lucas and I have a good connection," he said.
