Dozen True Freshmen See Action

In recruiting, one selling point is whether a player will compete for playing time as a true freshman. Faced with that question, AState coaches can report that more than half of true freshmen saw action in the opener.

Here is a breakdown of players seeing action.

Blaise Taylor. Kickoff return for 38 yards. Three punt returns for 11 yards, with a long of 10. One tackle.

Terrance Hollingsworth. Had five carries for 15 yards and one TD. Longest rush was five yards. One pass reception for 12 yards.

Charles Gaskin. Had one assisted tackle.

Khari Lain. Had two assisted tackles.

Blake Mack. Played late but did not record a stat.

Brandon Byner. Three carries for 15 yards with a long run of nine. Could not find the handle on what looked like a probable 67 yard TD reception.

Bryan Scanlan. Played but did not record a stat.

Caleb Caston. Had one tackle, an eight yard sack. E.J. Sutton. Recorded one assisted tackle.

Chuks Ota. Credited with a quarterback hurry on Montana State’s final drive.

Daniel Keith. Played but did not record a stat.

Charles Grant. Played but did not record a stat.
