Bowl Practices and Events

The bowl schedule for AState practices and player and fan events leading up to the GoDaddy Bowl have been set.


The team will have a meeting Wednesday before starting its practice schedule and the team will be dismissed after the December 19 practice for a Christmas break and return for a team meeting on December 27.

The team will depart for Mobile on December 31.

Mobile practice times have not been set. All practices will be at South Alabama’s practice facility except one practice will be held at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

GODADDY BOWL Team Welcome Reception
Wednesday, December 31, 2015, 7:00 p.m. The GoDaddy Bowl will host a southern-style shrimp boil immediately followed by a Game Show Night, presented by “The Big Game Show” at Ladd Peebles Stadium to welcome the coaches and players of each Bowl team, administration, both conference commissioners and their support staff, local and national media representatives, local and national corporate sponsors, Mobile city officials, and invited guests. The Welcome Reception will be limited to 500 people.

GODADDY BOWL USS Alabama Team Luncheon
Thursday, January 1, 2015, 11:00 a.m. Each participating football team, traveling party and invited guests will enjoy a lunch on the famous World War II battleship. Bowl sponsors, city officials and local media have the opportunity to meet each team’s players and coaches and visit this Mobile landmark, the USS Alabama. An estimated crowd of more than 500 people is expected to attend.

GODFATHER’S PIZZA Players Hospital Visit
Friday, January 2, 2015, 9:00 a.m. Players and Coaches from both teams participating in the GoDaddy Bowl will visit the children at University of South Alabama’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The children will have an opportunity to visit with the players, receive gifts and have their picture taken.

GODADDY BOWL Mayor’s Luncheon
Friday, January 2, 2015, 12:00 p.m. Former NFL quarterback and college football hall of famer Joe Theismann will be addressing city officials, corporate sponsors, traveling parties of each Bowl team and other guests at the Mobile Convention Center, Exhibit Hall. Mobile’s Mayor Sandy Stimpson will address the crowd. Previous speakers include: Danica Patrick, Charles Barkley, Terry Bradshaw, Phil Simms, etc.

GODADDY BOWL Team Night
Friday, January 2, 2015, 8:00 p.m. Teams participating in the GoDaddy Bowl will enjoy a night of fun and entertainment at the AMF Camellia Lanes in Mobile. Teams will compete in a bowling challenge.

WINTZELL’S OYSTER HOUSE Wives Day Out
Saturday, January 3, 2015. This is a special day for the wives of the coaches and conference staff participating in the Bowl game. The ladies will get to participate in a day of fun with Paint Party Studios at the Wintzell’s Oyster House where they can visit, laugh, and create something for their home. Lunch is provided by Wintzell’s Oyster House and transportation provided by Colonial Trailways.

GREER’S/AL.com /PRESS-REGISTER Mardi Gras Parade
Saturday, January 3, 2015, 6:30 p.m. A Mardi Gras Parade will be held in the streets of Downtown Mobile. 16 Mardi Gras societies will be represented with floats and throws for the crowd. Several local high school marching bands will join the parade, as well as the bands and cheerleaders from each participating Bowl team. A huge crowd is expected to pack the streets for the first parade of the Mardi Gras season.

Saturday, January 3, 2015, 7:30 p.m. Immediately following the parade, both participating institutions will hold their official pep rallies at the Mobile Convention Center (riverside entrance), attended by each respective marching band, cheerleaders, fans and alumni.

SPECTRONICS Fireworks Display
Saturday, January 3, 2015, 8:00 p.m. Immediately following the pep rally there will be a spectacular fireworks display over Mobile River! This event is attended by each respective marching band, cheerleaders, fans and alumni

Saturday, January 3, 2015, 8:15 p.m. Immediately following the fireworks display, the party will move to Water Street andSouth Plaza for music, food and fun! This event is free to the public and is attended by each respective marching band, cheerleaders, fans and alumni. A live band and food will be available.

GODADDY BOWL Alumni Golf Tournament
Sunday, January 4, 2015, 8:00 a.m. Alumni groups from the competing GoDaddy Bowl teams are invited to play in a golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Magnolia Grove. Entry forms can be obtained by calling the GoDaddy Bowl office. (Separate fees apply)
