No Damage

While it produced a good show, the incident Monday night at Centennial Bank Stadium will cause no delays in the expansion project.

Construction officials indicated that materials that were slated to be torn out on Tuesday began smoldering Monday night. No flames were seen but a lot of smoke was generated and the Jonesboro Fire Department was called to the stadium.

The materials were part of the old press box and have to be removed as part of the renovation of that section. Much of the material would have been removed on Monday but work had stopped on that portion because of darkness.

Crews expect to resume tearing out the materials at the start of work on Tuesday.
