Bowling, a class of ‘16 wide receiver at McKinney (Texas) Boyd, made an unofficial visit to Arkansas State this week. It was his first visit to Jonesboro this week.
“I loved it; it was very nice,’’ he said. “At first I did not know what to expect. But I got here and I was really impressed. It is a small town but that is not a problem. I like the community ; I liked the coaches. “
Bowling, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver/safety, is coming off a big season. He caught 49 passes for 520 yards and ran 27 times for 101 yards. He scored 8 touchdowns.
“I play a lot of receiver and I will line up a running back,’’ he said, “ and I have lined up some at safety. I also return punts and kickoffs.”
Bowling called himself “an athlete” and his game is build around speed. He has been clocked in the 4.4 range.
He is also holding an offer Texas State and is hearing from SMU, Oklahoma State and Colorado State.
“Right now Arkansas State is definitely at the top,’’ he said. “I plan on coming back for the spring game.”
The Arkansas State spring game is Friday, April 17.
“I am planning trips to SMU (this week) and Oklahoma State and will go to the Texas State spring game,’’ he said.
Originally from Georgia, he said he has not seen a lot of the Red Wolves’ game but does remember the team playing well against Auburn a couple of seasons ago.
