New ESPN Service is BIG NEWS

ESPN service change is big news for Arkansas State and the Sun Belt

Remember ESPN GamePlan? Pay big bucks get a lot of games but some of them were maybe already available on your sports package? Or maybe you just paid for the one day access.

Chances are you forgot GamePlan even existed once ESPN3 came along.

ESPN has noticed.

Starting on September 5, ESPN rolls out a new service called ESPN College Extra. Depending on your television provider, you can have up to eight channels of games that were going to be ESPN3 shown on your television as part of the sports package the cable or satellite company offers.

The ESPN College Extra games will still be available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, the service just provides another way to see those games.

The initial group of providers includes three with a big presence in Arkansas. Direct TV, AT&T Uverse and Cox Cable. Other providers include Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FIOS, and select NCTC members. ESPN expects to announce more providers.

ESPN College Extra has not rolled out the schedule for September 12, when Missouri at Arkansas State is scheduled but the first week schedule is available.
