Arkansas State University football season ticket sales go over 10,000

The challenge issued was 10,000 season tickets sold. Jason Martin, AState Associate AD for External Relations spent the month of August wearing a football helmet to promote sales.

Going into the final day before the season opener the question remained whether the challenge would be met. Athletic Director Terry Mohajir reported on Thursday evening that sales were at 9,900.

Just before 1pm the target was hit with the purchase of two season tickets by AState head coach Blake Anderson.

There are unconfirmed reports that total sales on Friday were 350 which would put total sales around the 10,250 mark. That would mean an increase of 19.6% over 2014.

AState has now posted increases in season ticket sales for seven consecutive seasons.

Some comparisons to demonstrate the amount of growth.

  • Season ticket sales in 2005 were 3,210. Sales of 10,250 would be an increase of 219%.
  • Over six games, 10,250 season tickets would be 61,500 tickets. In 2002 AState drew 60,702 over six games. AState drew 50,850 over six games in 1995. During Terry Mohajir’s junior season at AState total attendance was 45,958 over four games.
  • In all, there have been 14 seasons at Centennial Bank Stadium where total season attendance was below 61,500.
  • At this level of season tickets, AState needs single game ticket sales and student attendance to average 16,149 to set a new single season average attendance record.
