Tai's Decision Due Soon

Las Vegas (NV) Liberty defensive end Sam Tai (6-4, 240) confirmed Monday night that he plans to commit to either Arkansas or UCLA on Wednesday afternoon.

After two visits in two weeks to his two favorite schools, Las Vegas (NV) Liberty defensive end Sam Tai is ready to announce his decision.

Tai (6-4, 240], who took an official visit to Arkansas and then a one-day unofficial one to UCLA this past weekend, will do Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CST.

"I am going to sit down with my parents and go over the pros and cons of each school," Tai said.

Tai has 15 offers and also taken visits to Colorado and Idaho, but has narrowed it down to the Razorbacks and the Bruins.

He was in Fayetteville over Halloween weekend when Arkansas routed Vanderbilt 49-14.

"I had a really awesome visit to Arkansas and really enjoyed being around the players and the coaches," Tai said. "It is an SEC program that I could be very happy at. The fans were great, the facilities were great. Everything about the place is great."

Tai attended UCLA's 17-14 win over Oregon State on Saturday.

"It was good," Tai said. "We got up in the morning for a one-day visit. It was fun and had a good time."

Asked if he was certain which school he was going to announce, Tai said that it wasn't 100 percent just yet.

"I am a little unsure, but I'll be certain after I talk to my parents," Tai said.

Tai's Liberty squad downed Foothill 28-14 two weeks ago to win the Southeast League title.

It was a big deal for the Patriots, who had won just 14 games combined in their first six years of varsity competition before breaking through last season with 8 wins.

Tai was the quarterback on the squad and led his team to the Sunrise Region semifinals – a place it has returned this season.

Liberty (9-1) downed Rancho 34-6 last Friday for its first ever home playoff win and advances to this Thursday's battle with Canyon Springs.

"We've had a great season, but we have to keep it going," said Tai, who led a defense that held Rancho to 34 yards rushing.
