When told of how the Red-White game roster split had gone and how he had Knile Davis, Joe Adams and Cobi Hamilton on his team, White squad quarterback Brandon Mitchell seemed fairly confident.
"That's all I need," Mitchell said.
Red team tailback Ronnie Wingo – who has Tyler Wilson as his quarterback and Jarius Wright, Marquel Wade and Julian Horton as play-making wideouts – thinks his team will end up victorious.
"First off, we are going to win," Wingo said. "I just hope there are a lot of fans that come out to support us and hopefully we will have a good turnout for ESPN."
The Razorbacks released the split rosters Wednesday for Saturday's 3 p.m. Red-White skirmish that will indeed be televised by ESPN.
"It is a huge deal," Wilson said. "Obviously it the first time we are going to step into the stadium with a lot of people in the stands – with this particular team. It is good to get some of the freshman on the field for the first time, let them get the feel for what it is like to be in a real game atmosphere.
"We are going to treat it is one the night before, kind of the way we prepare," Wilson added. "We are definitely excited, hopefully we will have a big crowd and get the feel of having a big game atmosphere and going through the cadences."
Wilson likes the fact that the teams are split down the middle for the Red-White and it won't just beat the first-team offense beating up on the scout team defense.
"It will allow for a lot of things to happen – getting the even split," Wilson said. "It is going to be good for everybody…A lot of our guys are great athletes and I think we have a great shot at winning. We have just as many weapons as they do on the other side."
One of the guys likely to draw a lot of attention from the fans on Saturday is Red team offensive lineman Brey Cook, the five-star offensive lineman from Springdale Har-Ber that enrolled early.
He'll be playing before larger crowds then he did against Bentonville, Springdale and Fayetteville.
"It's going to be great," Cook said. "All these weeks of practice I have been looking forward to this Saturday. We'll come out here and put on a show. There will be a lot of people out there and they will pull for us. It will help me because come fall, I never really have played before a large amount of people and I will be used to it."
Mitchell thinks the atmosphere is going to be great.
"I think it is going to be a great game, we are nationally televised and playing in front of everybody," Mitchell said. "I got guys like Joe Adams, Knile Davis, Cobi Hamilton – guys that have been making plays for us all year, really two years now.
"It's going to be a packed house and we want everybody to come out and support the Razorbacks," Mitchell said. "We just want to give everybody a preview of what it I going to be like in 2011."
