Catcher James McCann was selected the SEC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league coaches. McCann joins Brady Toops as the only Arkansas players to earn that award. McCann has a 3.96 grad point average and has completed a perfect 4.00 in four semesters at Arkansas.
McCann is a junior from Santa Barbara, Calif., and a three-year starter for the Razorbacks. He's been a mainstay since beating out a senior in the stretch drive for the College World Series in 2009.
Sophomore pitcher DJ Baxendale was named to the All-SEC Second Team. Infielder Dominic Ficociello was named to the SEC All Freshman team.
The Hogs are the SEC West outright champs and begin play Wednesday in the SEC tournament with a 9:30 a.m. game against Alabama in Hoover, Ala.
