Hitting The Road

Second-seeded Arkansas (38-20) will play third-seeded Charlotte (42-14) while host and top-seed Arizona State (39-16) faces fourth-seed New Mexico (20-39).

The NCAA Tournament isn't coming Arkansas after all – the Razorbacks have to go to it.

Arkansas was not one of 16 regional host sites announced on Sunday for the event that will begin on Friday.

It was announced Monday that the Razorbacks (38-20) travel to Tempe, Arizona. and will play third-seeded Charlotte (42-14) while host and top-seed Arizona State (39-16) faces fourth-seed New Mexico (20-39).

"We had a pretty good season," Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said Saturday. "Look at the competition we play each week, and consider the fact we lost several one-run games and went 4-5 against the Big Three of Vanderbilt, Florida and South Carolina in the regular season," Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said on Saturday. "We put together a good resume and won the SEC West Division."

The team that most Arkansas fans will point to and wonder why the Razorbacks did not host instead is UCLA (33-21), who did win the Pac-10.

The Razorbacks have a better record, have a 14 RPI to UCLA's 32 and were higher ranked in two of the three major baseball polls.

Arkansas was 8-8 vs. RPI Top 25, 17-15 vs. RPI Top 50 and 22-15 vs. RPI Top 100.

UCLA was 5-5 vs. RPI Top 25, 9-9 vs. RPI Top 50 and 21-17 vs. RPI Top 100.
