Hatcher Impresses Razorbacks

Owasso (OK) wide receiver Keon Hatcher (6-2, 193, 4.5) wows the Arkansas coaches so much during the Razorbacks' gridiron camp that he walks away with the first of what is likely to be many offers.

When Owasso (OK) wide receiver Keon Hatcher got a scholarship offer from Arkansas on Tuesday, he did not try to hide his enthusiasm about what just happen.

"This is my first offer and I am so excited to get it from Arkansas, which is one of the best programs in the best conference in the country," Hatcher said. "I mean it is in the conference that has won the past five national championships.

"I just have to thank God and I feel so blessed right now," Hatcher added. "To have Arkansas see something that makes them believe I could play for them and in the SEC just validates all the hard work I have put in."

Hatcher (6-2, 193. 4.5) is coming off a junior season in which he caught 76 passes for 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Rams.

"I think my strengths are my competitiveness, I'm big and thus more physical than most wideouts and I have good hands and can make plays after getting the ball in my hands," Hatcher said.

Hatcher certainly showed all that during his appearance Monday at Arkansas camp.

"I feel like I came out and worked hard, listened to the coaches and really tried to do exactly what they told me to do," Hatcher said. "That worked out for me."

Hatcher, who has grown up as an Oklahoma Sooners fan, has been to Norman and Oklahoma State for camps and plans to check out at TCU.

"I am not in any hurry to make a decision," Hatcher said. "I'm just going to try and see who all comes to the table and take some visits and see what the best spot is for me."

Arkansas has certainly put its best foot forward.

"The Razorbacks have great coaches, a great offense and a program that is really on the rise," Hatcher said. "It would really be something to play for them and play in the SEC. It is certainly something I am going to look really hard at doing. I can certainly see it is a place for me."
