Defensive End Evaluations

Defensive coordinator Willy Robinson provided his personnel evaluations for the defensive ends following spring drills. This appeared in our print version of Hawgs Illustrated in the June football preview. We're bringing them to you in installments this summer at HI.com.

Post-spring evaluations from defensive coordinator Willy Robinson:

91 Jake Bequette 6-5, 271, SR

Obviously, he has all of the tools. He wasn't able to make it through all of the spring drills because of class conflicts. But you have to respect the heck out of the fact that he's working into an upper level degree and working so hard. He's extremely talented. He's really one of those guys who has all of the measurables who scouts are going to be looking at. He's caught eyes nationwide for all of his achievements and will be a candidate for postseason awards.

90 Colton Miles-Nash 6-6, 261, JR

He's been a solid backup and has at times shown flashes to be a starter. His future is extremely bright. He's big, tall and can run. He can play both phases, the run and the pass. He's extremely coachable.

43 Tenarius Wright 6-2, 252, JR

For the first time since he's been here, he was healthy for a spring. You take that for granted, but you look back and think how many years Tank has been here, he's going into his junior year and he's missed two springs full time. I think of everyone we have, this cat is our bell cow in the defensive front. He's very capable of being that leader, being that guy takes over that group. He exhibits what we teach on the field, what we want from our players on the field and he's an extremely good player versus run and pass.

42 Chris Smith 6-3, 251, SO

He had a really, really good spring. He made big strides this spring. Those two young men, Tenarius and Chris, really stood out in our spring game. They are on the same team and they are two that can really take over a game. Chris really performed in his technique, effort and also understood the defense, the ins and outs. He did a nice job all through the spring.
