SPRINGDALE - While he has a plethora of college offers, Broken Arrow (OK) tight end Zac Veatch would love to add one from the school near where he was showing off his talents this past weekend.
Veatch (6-4, 250), one of the standouts at the Southwest Elite 7-on-7 showcase this past week at Shiloh Christian, is definitely interested in Arkansas.
"I've haven't had much contact with Arkansas, but I am definitely interested in them and understand they would like for me to come to their camp (on Saturday)," Veatch said. "I would definitely love to hear more from them. We have Anthony Bailey down there. He was a senior when I was a freshman."
Veatch, who had 11 touchdowns among his 19 catches last season, already has offers from Tulsa, Baylor, Wyoming, Oregon State, Kansas, Iowa State and Houston.
"I am just kind of keeping an open mind right now," Veatch said. "I do really like Tulsa. It is close to home and you can get a great education there."
He is a three-star prospect and the 43rd-best tight end national according to Scout.com, but also is a defensive standout as well.
Veatch reminds observers of Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten with his size, hands and athletic ability.
"I think my strength is my versatility in that I can play both H-back and tight end on offense and also on defense I can play both defensive end and linebacker," Veatch said.
The Tigers were 9-3 last season and ended the year with a 35-21 loss to Lawton in the Class 6A quarterfinals.
They showed off several offensive weapons this weekend, but will need an inexperienced offensive line to step up to achieve its goals according to Veatch.
"We are not as experienced up front as we have been in the past, but they have a ton of heart and I know they are going to play their butt off every play," Veatch said. "We all are going to do that."
