Arkansas Nabs Lewis

Memphis Ridgeway defensive end Brandon Lewis (6-5, 230, 4.65) makes it three commitments for Arkansas on Saturday when he tells the Razorbacks coaches want they were wanting to hear.

Arkansas may about to be starting a Memphis pipeline.

Memphis Ridgeway defensive end Brandon Lewis (6-5, 230) committed to the Razorbacks on Saturday night to join offensive lineman and teammate Cordale Boyd (6-3, 300) as Arkansas pledges.

"I knew what I wanted to do so there was no longer any reason to wait," Lewis said after a day in which he participated in the school's elite camp. "Arkansas is the right place for me just like it was for Cordale."

Lewis has 12 offers, including ones from Arkansas, Clemson, Mississippi State, Memphis and Vanderbilt.

But it was the Razorbacks that stood above the rest.

"I love Arkansas," Lewis said. "I just like everything about it. The coaches are like family. They have great facilities and they are adding on. They are getting everything up here like at the top, number one."

Lewis is a force off the edge and knows his biggest strength on the football field is sacking the quarterback - something he did 11 times as a junior.

"Rushing the passer," Lewis said. "I can drop at times, but most of the time it is just rushing the passer and making the quarterback rush his throw, getting a sack or putting pressure on him."

Lewis was one of the dominant defensive ends in Arkansas camp on Saturday.

"I went as hard as I could on every drill so I think I did great in everything I did," Lewis said.

The Razorbacks are also recruiting Ridgeway quarterback Jamil Golden (6-3, 200) and cornerback Sheldon Dawson (5-11, 170), both of whom were in Fayetteville on Saturday as well.

Those four aforementioned prospects led Ridgeway to a 13-1 campaign last season.

"We want to win the state bad," Lewis said. "Our whole offense, we didn't really lose anybody. Most of our starters are coming back, but on defense we only have like three starters coming back. We are basically rebuilding over there."
