Lowe's Riding High

One of the top standouts at Arkansas Elite Camp on Saturday was Bearden star Defonta Lowe (6-3, 180, 4.5), a quarterback who showed he can get it done at both wide receiver and cornerback.

There was perhaps no one that improved his stock more at Arkansas' Elite Camp over the weekend than Bearden's Defonta Lowe.

Lowe (6-3, 180, 4.5), who is the quarterback for the Bears, put on quite the show as a wide receiver and cornerback during Saturday's drills.

"Today was great," Lowe said after the camp. "I think I had a good day today. I don't know what it was, but I was playing good."

Lowe put on the show despite working at two positions in oppressive heat that topped 100 degrees at times.

"I have great conditioning and it really is just about determination," Lowe said. "I like playing both sides. I like the competition and I just like to compete."

The performance likely moved Lowe closer to getting an offer from Arkansas, a school he does not try to hide his feelings about.

"I love Arkansas, I love Arkansas," Lowe said. "I think the best part is the coaches. They really talk to you. They don't just like put you off to the side. They talk to you and help you out with stuff."

Lowe rushed for 1,543 yards and 24 touchdowns also passed for 1,233 yards while leading his team to a 10-2 mark.

Bearden has flourished with Lowe at quarterback, but will have a chance to use him in a dual role this season.

"I have been playing quarterback and also free safety," Lowe said. "We have another quarterback, a second string quarterback that is pretty good so they are going to try and work me some at receiver."
