Tusk Savers Committee Established

Tusk1 has been relocated to Fayetteville, and a campaign is now underway to protect the Razorback mascot for future generations of fans.

A committee has been established to set up ways to assure that future generations of Razorback fans have a proper mascot to lead the Arkansas football team onto the field at games.

David Bazzel, chairman of the Tusk Savers Committee, said there is now hope that Tusk1 will have a successor as mascot. Plans for the future of the mascot may be announced in the coming weeks.

For now, Tusk1 has been moved from the Little Rock Zoo to a pen at the UA agricultural park. A plan to move Tusk1 to another location is now in the works.

Bazzel has longed been an activist in the plan to breed future generations of mascots. Tusk1 is a Russian Boar, the meanest and wildest of Razorback pigs. Bazzel now has help in his drive for the mascot in Chuck Barrett, host of the popular SportsRap talk show aired across the state by the Arkansas Radio Network. Barrett has established a fund to save Tusk with more than $1,000 raised in less than one week. To donate to the fund, send a check or money order to:
