At the same time, Arkansas released its 2012 football schedule, with one non-conference game to be announced later. The Razorbacks got no real tricks in their SEC schedule with home games set for Alabama, Ole Miss, Kenutucky and LSU. They will travel to South Carolina, Auburn and Mississippi State with the Texas A&M site still unsettled.
The Hogs will open the season with Jacksonville State. Other nonconference games are with Louisiana-Monroe and Tulsa. Open dates that could feature an opponent with a home-and-home contract currently under negotiation are Sept. 22 and Oct. 20.
"Unfortunately there are still several issues to be resolved in our 2012 football schedule, but we wanted to get as much information to our fans as possible so they may begin planning for next season," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. We are pleased to have at least seven home games and possibly eight as part of a very competitive 2012 football schedule.
"With the addition of Texas A&M and then the late addition of Missouri to the SEC, the conference was in a difficult position in finalizing a league schedule. The delay in the distribution of the conference schedule greatly impacted our ability to finalize our non-conference schedule. Completing the 2012 football schedule has been a challenge.
"While the 2012 conference schedule has been set, additional work must be done to construct future conference football schedules. We will continue to work closely with the SEC to develop future schedules that serve the best interests of the University of Arkansas and all 14 member institutions."
