University of Arkansas Head Football Coach Houston Nutt and UA Head Basketball Coach Nolan Richardson were among those gathered to help unveil a new line of Razorback logos and word marks at a press conference Wednesday at the Broyles Athletic Center.
The new collection includes an enhancement of the classic Running Razorback Hog,
a shield mark featuring the classic Running Razorback Hog, word marks featuring
a variety of UA identifications and a multi-dimensional logo featuring a new Hog
with a word mark.
According to UA Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Licensing
Matt Shanklin, the primary objective of the process was to further enhance the
identity of the Razorback program by utilizing the traditional Running Razorback
as well as introducing new logos and marks that feature the appearance of increased
depth and action.
Today's formal introduction of the new marks is the culmination of a process that
has taken more than a year and a half. Project coordinators solicited input from
administrators, staff, coaches, student-athletes, UA students, business leaders
and fans from all over the state. Phoenix Design Works of New York City coordinated
the production of the new designs under the supervision of Creative Director Jamie
Skiles and his staff. Phoenix Design Works, Inc. has facilitated similar work
for Major League Baseball, the National Football League, NASCAR, the National
Basketball Association and ESPN.
Collegiate Licensing Company also played an instrumental role in the process
with primary support coming from Joe Hutchinson and Jennifer Koshlap.
