Nobles Won't Be Back

Arkansas junior guard Julysess Nobles won't be back for his senior season with the Razorbacks, who likely have his numerical replacement lined up in point guard Dee Wagner, who was just named Mr. Basketball in Louisiana.

Arkansas has announced that junior guard Julysess Nobles will no longer be a part of the basketball team.

The Razorbacks issued a press release to announce the move, which sources indicate was a mutual one.

"I appreciate everything that Julysses did for the Razorback program during his three years," Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson said. "He is a good young man who will continue to grow and mature. I wish him the best as he pursues another opportunity to play basketball and earn his degree."

Nobles started 54 of his 91 games as a Razorback and averaged 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists during his career.

"I have enjoyed my time as a Razorback," Nobles said. "After speaking with Coach Anderson, I feel it is time for me to move on."

His numerical place on the roster is likely to be taken by 5-11 Peabody (LA) point guard Dee Wagner , who was named Mr. Basketball in Louisiana last weekend.

Wagner averaged 20.2 points per game while leading his team to a 35-1 mark and Class 4A state championship.

The Mr. Basketball Award is given by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and sponsored by Farm Bureau.

This is a huge honor," said Wagner in a release. "I would have never expected receiving this honor. When (teammate) Markel (Brown) was named Mr. Basketball (in 2010) that was to be expected but this is a total surprise."

"Dee is an outstanding young man and player," Peabody coach Charles Smith said. "He became an extension of me out on the floor."

Arkansas has seven returning players, signed three players in the early period can sign three players this spring during the April 11-May 16 signing period.
