Clarke Signs with Arkansas

Arkansas adds a fifth signee to its 2012 basketball class on Wednesday when Lawson State (AL) CC power forward Coty Clarke (6-7, 225) inks with the Razorbacks.

The ever-changing Arkansas basketball roster added one more signee on Wednesday.

Lawson State (AL) power forward Coty Clarke (6-7, 220) said late Tuesday night that he will sign today with the Razorbacks on the last day of the April 11-May 16 signing period.

"Yes, sir, I have signed with Arkansas," Clarke said.

Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson loves the pick-up.

"Coty is excited about being a Razorback and that excites me," Anderson said. "He is an athletic forward who can impact on both ends of the floor, offensively and defensively. Coty has a blue collar mentality which is needed on this team. He is an excellent fit for the ‘Fastest 40 Minutes in Basketball'."

Clarke, who averaged 16.2 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks last season, is the fifth Arkansas signee in its 2012 class.

The others include 6-8 Birmingham (AL) Central Park Christian small forward Jacorey Williams (6-8, 190), Shreveport (LA) Huntington swingman Michael Qualls (6-5, 200), Memphis (TN) Bartlett shooting guard Anthlon Bell (6-4, 180) and Alexandria (LA) Peabody point guard Dee Wagner (5-10, 180).

The Razorbacks have also added Oklahoma State transfer and former Fayetteville star Fred Gulley – who will be able to play in December – and Houston transfer Alandise Harris (6-6, 230) to the roster.

Harris officially joined the Razorback program on Tuesday.

Arkansas has also granted releases to two former players - junior guard Julysess Nobles and freshman forward DeVonta Abron.
