What Happens In Vegas

The Las Vegas Invitational officially announces its 2012 field with Arkansas, Arizona State, Creighton and Wisconsin all set to play at Orleans Arena on Nov. 23-24.

You can now add officially Las Vegas to Italy and Hawaii among the places Mike Anderson's Arkansas basketball team will play the next two seasons.

The Razorbacks have accepted an invitation to play in the Las Vegas Invitational Nov. 23-24, 2012 at Orleans Arena, which is just off the famous Las Vegas Strip.

The four-team field also includes Wisconsin, Arizona State and Creighton with match-ups yet to be set.

It adds in with what Anderson has stated is his philosophy – playing whoever it takes and doing whatever it needs to win a national championship.

"I want to take it to another level," Anderson told the Mississippi County Razorback Club just over a week ago. "I am going to win my national championship. I want you to know that. I am not a politician, but I believe in hard work and I believe in what we are doing. I am used to winning. I am not a guy that brags, but I am used to winning and I'm going to do whatever it takes."

Winners of the two games will play for the championship while the two losers will battle it out in the consolation game.

Arkansas has plans to play an exhibition tour in Italy in early August and has also accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 Maui Invitational in Hawaii on Nov. 19-21.

Arkansas joins Baylor, California, Dayton, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Syracuse and host Chaminade in the Maui Invitational.

"The Maui Invitational is a wonderful event and brings some of the best basketball teams in the country to one location," Anderson said. "Being considered for this tournament is an honor for our program and I look forward to the challenge that comes with playing elite teams that have been assembled for the 2013 event."

The Razorbacks, who will have at least six new players next season along with the return of forward Marshawn Powell, were 18-15 least season after starting off 16-6.
