Arkansas Quarterbacks

Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino gave Hawgs Illustrated his assessment of the quarterbacks following spring drills. This is part of a series to run over the next week at

Paul Petrino on Quarterbacks:

Overview: Tyler Wilson is our leader. He's the man. It's his offense. He's real accurate and he had a great spring. We just need to make sure he's playing in that zone and have a great fall camp.

Tyler Wilson
6-3, 220, Sr.
He had a great spring — probably one of the best springs of any quarterback I've ever been around. He's a great leader and it started with his play. He understands the offense and now has a year under his belt. He has a great poise about himself and really understood where he was going with the ball. He was real accurate and did everything well. I could go on and on. He's definitely the leader of the team. He went out there every day with a great attitude and helped bring everybody else to the way he approached the practice field every single day. I'm real happy with him. Now he's got to have a great summer, a great two-a-days and just get ready for the season.

Brandon Mitchell
6-4, 230, JR
He has been in the offense so long and understands the checks, the running game and has a good grasp of the offense. I think any time you make the defense have to prepare for a different type of running game, it's always a valuable asset for you.

Brandon Allen
6-3, 212, FR
Brandon has a real quick release, is accurate and just throws the ball real well. It's just a matter of him getting more and more experience in practice, and going against live bullets. I thought he got better every day in the spring.

Brian Buehner
5-11, 195, SO
Brian is a great kid. He's our holder and that can win or lose you games, so it's very important to us. He's a great team player. He's real good in the meeting room and helps the other guys, and he knows what he's doing. He's definitely a guy who could help you because he knows the offense.
