Room But No Fit

Arkansas recruiting coordinator Tim Horton says the Razorbacks do have room under the 85 scholarship limit to add transfers, but it does not appear any will be coming from Penn State.

Arkansas has room on its current roster to add possible transfers, but it doesn't appear any of them will be coming from Penn State.

That's according to Razorback recruiting coordinator Tim Horton.

"There is room under the 85 scholarship limit and we have looked into it," Horton said Tuesday morning. "We researched it and there does not appear to be a fit. We'll see what happens from this point on, but many of these players were in time zones that we don't normally recruit so there was not initial contact during the recruiting process."

The room on Arkansas' roster comes from having four players that will not be back in wide receivers Marquel Wade and Maudrecus Humphrey, tight end Andrew Peterson and defensive end Tyler Gilbert.

The Razorbacks did add former El Dorado and Memphis quarterback Taylor Reed recently, but there has been no confirmation so far whether he is on scholarship.

The NCAA hit Penn State with major sanctions Monday regarding the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case and its cover-up.

Current Nittany Lion players are allowed to transfer and be eligible elsewhere.

"We recognize the immediate consequences here have an impact on these students, who didn't have anything directly to do with the transgressions at Penn State," said Kevin Lennon, the NCAA's vice president of academic and membership affairs. "So we're trying to provide the best relief possible."
