Secondary Stalwarts

Arkansas gets a couple of major pick-ups its secondary as new Razorback head coach Bret Bielema lands Hartnell (CA) College cornerback Carroll Washington (6-1, 180) and Georgia Military College safety Tiquention Coleman (5-11, 190) Wednesday among his five mid-term graduate signees

The Arkansas secondary just added a major dose of talent and experience.

Hartnell (CA) College cornerback Carroll Washington (6-1, 180) and Georgia Military College safety Tiquention Coleman (5-11, 190, 4.47) are among the five players the Razorbacks signed as the national mid-term junior signing period got underway on Wednesday.

Both are expected to start or at least contribute significantly and are part of what could be five signees for new head coach Bret Bielema on Wednesday, including four defenders.

"Coach Bielema said he was not into wasting time and he was not about to waste my time," Washington said. "He plans on our defense being great and being great right away. We have added some great signees today."

Washington had 27 tackles, four interceptions and six pass break ups this season.

Mississippi State tried to get Washington to take a visit late, but Washington chose to stay true to Arkansas after meeting with Bielema.

"Coach B is a real cool guy," Washington said. "He has big plans for the Arkansas program. He's not here to mess around or wait for awhile to be successful. He wants to win and he wants to win now."

Coleman had 44 tackles, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, two pass break ups and one forced fumble.

He was originally committed to Bielema at Wisconsin, but decided to flip to Arkansas when the coach took over the Razorbacks.

Coleman chose them over Arizona, Auburn, South Carolina and Clemson.
