New Day Dawning

Arkansas gets the first of what he hopes will be a couple of commitments from North Little Rock standouts this month as junior tailback Juan Day (6-1, 205, 4.5) gets an offer from the Razorbacks on Monday and ends the process quickly.

As he watched his cousin Cedric Cobbs scored touchdowns for Arkansas back in the day, North Little Rock's Juan Day started to dream of doing that himself as a Razorback one day.

On Monday, he was offered the chance and leaped at it right away.

Day (6-1, 205) was offered by new Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema early Monday afternoon and committed a few hours later.

"I have always dreamed of being a Razorback so it really is a dream come true," Day said. "I got the offer this afternoon, but both of my parents were at work and I wanted to talk to them before committing.

"I did and they said to go ahead so I went ahead and committed," Day said. "I'm really excited about it. I really like the new coach and the direction he is taking the program and what type of offense they are going to have."

Day rushed for 930 yards and 11 touchdowns this season while sharing the backfield with senior Alabama commit Altee Tenpenny and sophomore Fabian Lewis.

"I had shared the same backfield with Fabian while playing on my dad's little league team," Day said. "Altee took us under his wing and helped make us better players and we were able to do a lot of things as a group."

Tenpenny, one of the nation's best 2013 backs, is visiting Alabama on Jan. 11-13 and then Arkansas on Jan. 18-20.

"I am going to go to work on him and tell him he needs to be a part of what we are building at Arkansas," Day said. "I really think it is going to be big."

Day joins El Dorado defensive tackle Bijohn Jackson (6-2, 320) and Bolivar (MO) quarterback Rafe Peavey (6-2, 215) as 2014 pledges to the Razorbacks.

Arkansas has also offered Springdale Har-Ber defensive tackle Josh Frazier (6-3, 330).
