One of the nation's best tight ends finally got his chance to meet a couple of coaches who plan to throw the ball his way many times over the next few years.
Pulaski Academy star Hunter Henry (6-6, 240) and his family hosted new Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema and Razorback offensive coordinator Jim Chaney for around four hours Monday night.
The Arkansas pledge – who is still listening to pitches from a pair of other SEC schools – loved what he heard from the pair.
"It was definitely great to finally get to meet Coach Bielema in person and just have a chance to sit down with him and get to know him and Coach Chaney and what they were all about," Henry said. "I really loved what they had to say about how they plan to use me in their offense."
Henry, a four-star prospect according to Scout.com who will visit Arkansas officially this weekend, caught 107 passes last season for 1,449 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"I know I am not going to catch 100 passes in college like I have been doing in high school, but they made it very clear that tight end is a key position in their offense and they plan to throw the ball to the tight end a lot," Henry said. "Coach Bielema talked about how one of his tight ends caught nearly 90 passes in one season a few years ago."
Henry committed to Arkansas in July and has remained that way – albeit taking an official visit to Alabama in November and continuing to talk with Georgia's coaches as well.
"I really loved the visit and I am pretty sure it is where I want to go, but I am still talking to a couple of other schools," Henry said and then confirmed those two were Alabama and Georgia.
Arkansas has not yet named its tight end coach - the last position on the staff to be filled.
"He (Bielema) just said he was taking his time and he might have somebody like in the next week," Henry said. "He's just making sure he gets a great one."
