Arkansas Sunday Football Camp Tidbits

Arkansas got its three-day high school football camp underway on Sunday with some 300 players on hand. Here are some tidbits from the opening day.

Sunday Morning Tidbits:

2015 Junction City DE Jamario Bell - who got an offer from Arkansas this week on his birthday - has arrived in Fayetteville.

• One of the best looking kids to show up on Sunday was 2016 Star City sophomore DL lineman Austin Capps (6-4, 298), who has been invited to participate in the Elite Camp on Monday as well with mostly junior and senior prospects.

• Capps joins Strong 2015 prospect DeVonte Lovett - a OL-DL-DE prospect - as ones that just don't look normal sophomore and junior prospects that show up at camp.

• Another 2015 prospect who looks solid is Champaign, Ill., Centennial DE Luc Bequette (6-2, 250), the son of former Arkansas OL Chris Bequette and former Olympic figure skater Debbie Thomas.

• Some others I saw registering on Sunday were 2014 North Little Rock OL Curtis Parker, 2014 Maumelle DE Kendall Donnerson, 2014 White Hall TB Irvin Tisdale, 2015 White Hall WR Daniel Sprinkle (6-2, 220), 2015 Little Rock Catholic ATH D.J. Brown, Warren 21014 WR Eric Von Gonder.

• Another intriguing prospect that showed up Sunday was TB/LB Darrell Dunlap (6-2, 220) of LaGrange, Ga., Troup County - who is currently committed to San Diego State.

Obviously many more kids on their way for Monday's Elite Camp.

Sunday Afternoon Tidbits:

Kids are now getting tested in 40-yard dash, standing long jump, pro shuttle, etc.

• Luc Bequette (6-2, 250) moves really well for his size

• Greenwood head coach Rick Jones is part of the camp staff as is former Razorback WR Anthony Lucas

• 2015 Junction City DE Jamario Bell - who got an offer from Arkansas this week on his birthday - ll is getting a tour of the athletic facilities and campus.

• Wouldn't be surprised at all if Arkansas gets one or maybe even of its top targets to commit sooner than later

• Some who passed the eye test this afternoon - 2015 Corning OL Klint Harvey (6-6, 320), 2015 Highland ATH Avery Johnson, 2015 Junction City prospects in DL Tyler Mason and TB Jaqwis Dancy.

• Dallas Bishop Dunne OL Jovan Brown (6-6, 300) has been here Saturday and Sunday on an unofficial visit and was hanging out at camp on Sunday. He looks the part of an SEC OL already.

• Some of the 2013 signees sawed up to watch the action this afternoon - D.J. Dean, Hunter Henry, Brooks Ellis, walk on FB Chris Jones were among the ones I saw.

• Just saw 2015 Hernando (Miss.) OL Matt Womack (6-6, 328) - that's a big old boy there. He's working out in the elite camp on Monday.

• Some 40 times - Donnerson said he ran a 4.4 and Tisdale noted he put up a 4.47 - you'll remember both were in the 4.3 at the Arkansas Combine.

• I have not seen Rafe Peavey around today, but know that he and his dad are here and that Rafe has been hanging out with Austin Allen via Austin's Twitter.

Sunday Night Tidbits:

• Some of the elite guys started to show up in advance of working out on Monday include Hebron OL Zach Rogers, Newton, Texas TB Kevin Shorter West Memphis DE-LB Jarvis Cooper, the Jackson Callaway duo of defensive end Breeland Speaks and Dayall Harris.

• There's also 2015 TE Will Gragg of PB.

• Arkansas 2014 DL commit Bijhon Jackson of El Dorado tweeted "Gotta wake up at 3:00 A.M, but at least Fayetteville is the reason why =-D

• As reported up top, Arkansas 2014 QB commit Rafe Peavey and his family are now all in on his pledge. So much that he went to the Catifish Hole with Shorter to work on getting him to commit to the Razorbacks.

• 2015 DE Jamario Bell went ahead jumped in for tonight's drills and skill player 7-on-7 games. He's projected as a DE, but may some great catches as a WR when his team had the ball.

• Fayetteville WR-CB Jordan Dennis was also in that 7-on-7 game and made a simply fantastic one-handed catch for a score.

• 2014 Dallas Pinkston DE Trey Carter (6-4, 250) was getting a tour of the place tonight.

• A surprise to me has been 2015 Glen Rose RB Carlos Turner (5-11, 180). You couldn't help but notice his speed in the 40. He ran a 4.4 and has been zipping all over the place in drills.

• The OL and DL went into the stadium and got some one-on-one work in. Austin Capps may not have been in a sophomore classroom, but he is a grown man. Really got with it.
