Shreveport (La.) Evangel wide receiver Jared Cornelius is not a golfer, but he does have a leader in the clubhouse among the seven schools that have offered him a scholarship.
Cornelius (6-2, 190, 4.4) asserted that once again on Friday after going through one of the two Elite Football Camps that Arkansas is hosting this weekend.
"Arkansas is at the top because their coaching staff is real relatable and it seems like they will take care of me," Cornelius said. "That is what you look for when you are going to spend four years somewhere. You don't want to just go somewhere for the football side of it."
Razorback wide receiver coach Michael Smith has definitely won over Cornelius, who caught 87 passes for 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns last season with a school-record 341 yards receiving against Barbe.
"I would definitely get some jokes," Cornelius said. "He is always talking. He told me that he is not in the weight room much, but he is always working out his mouth. I will definitely learn how to talk some trash while I am here."
Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, San Diego State, Houston, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech have all offered.
Cornelius had Arkansas as his frontrunner even before arriving in Fayetteville for the first time.
He got to see Reynolds Razorback Stadium and Arkansas' new Fred W. Smith Football Operations Center on Friday.
"This was my first time here so seeing the stadium was just crazy," Cornelius said. "It definitely is one of the best that I have been to. All these new facilities are also very appealing for us young guys.
"It is crazy," Cornelius added. "A 100-yard weight room and everything is brand new. I mean everything here is brand new. Nice place."
Missouri has recently offered Cornelius while he said Auburn appears to be on the verge.
He will visit both of those schools unofficially before announcing a decision.
"I'm thinking (about announcing) at the beginning of my season, - August 23 or around that time," Cornelius said.
