Arkansas Set to Host Edwards

Miami, Fla, Norland Wide receiver Kendrick Norland (6-5, 205) is taking his official visit to Arkansas this weekend and currently has one scheduled to Louisville next week.

It appears we are going to have our first Bret Bielema vs. Bobby Petrino recruiting battle down the stretch here as the Feb. 5 national signing date draws near.

Miami Norland wide receiver Kendrick Edwards (6-5, 205) , being recruited by Razorback assistants Randy Shannon and Michael Smith, said Thursday night that he was down to a final two of Arkansas and Louisville.

Edwards, who has eliminated Rutgers, is scheduled to officially visit Arkansas this weekend and then follow that up with a trek to Louisville on Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

"I love the SEC and Arkansas coaches are really awesome so that gives them an edge," Edwards said. "But Louisville has come back into the picture and right now I am planning on visiting them as well."

Edwards had 24 catches for 443 yards and 8 touchdowns during his breakout junior season.

His catches were limited as a senior during Norland's 3-7 season as he finished with 15 catches for 256 yards and 2 scores.

"Our quarterback went down and we had to go with a younger kid that really couldn't pass the ball," Edwards said. "So we went to the Wing-T and didn't really throw a lot of passes at all."

Edwards believes that he is a nice combination of both speed and size.

"I have the ability to both go deep and use my size in the red zone to make plays," Edwards said. "I know Arkansas is losing a lot of seniors. Their coaches have known me that they really need me and that I am just what they are looking for. I figure I can come in right away and play at Arkansas."
