Highland (Ark.) High athlete Avery Johnson is still on Arkansas' radar despite not receiving an offer yet.
Johnson, who is being recruited as a safety, was in Fayetteville for the Razorbacks' Red-White spring game Saturday and was impressed by first-year defensive coordinator Robb Smith's defense, which intercepted four passes.
"I liked the defense," Johnson said. "It was great and fast paced."
Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney, Jr., visited Johnson at Highland, a 4A school in Hardy, Ark., Tuesday afternoon. Lunney watched him run some drills and work out.
"It seemed like it went good," Johnson said. "He said hi to me, but mostly talked to my coach."
Johnson's only offers are from Southern Miss and Arkansas State, but he has also received mail from Oklahoma State and North Carolina.
He said he plans to attend a camp at Arkansas in June, as well as camps at Oklahoma State, Arkansas State and possibly North Carolina some time this summer.
Arkansas' coaches told him Saturday that he would work out at linebacker the first day of the camp in June, safety the second day and whichever position the coaches like him best at the third day.
